It’s here. After much planning with a lot of late nights and weekends spent building endless walls and laying carpets and eating far too many chocolate macaroons, screenWORKS has arrived and is ready to welcome you.
But as my Mum keeps asking, what exactly is it … in plain English? Well, without reverting to media babble we shall try to explain. The idea is to provide an affordable, creative, comfortable 24/7 space for independent workers, freelancers, small companies and start-ups, to use as little or as much as they like.
It takes the best elements a coffee shop (social, energetic) and the best elements of a workplace (creative, functional) and combines them to create a space for freelancers and mobile workers to meet and get work done.
You might be a start-up needing a full or part-time office space but not wanting the hassle of a lease, a home-worker wanting to work outside the house occasionally and tired of having meetings in noisy cafes or a worker for a company based outside Edinburgh looking to work nearer to home now and again.
It’s easy to get started. Simply decide when you want to use it, take out a membership and pay only for the time you need. Then get working.
And there’s more > screenWORKS is much more that just a shared office space. As a coworking centre, we not only work together in one space, we also aim to work with the local community too, running workshops and events to promote and encourage opportunities in the city. Interested? Get in touch and get involved.
